SIGNAL PROCESSING AND IMAGE ANALYSIS

The recent significant developments in Information Science now offer new possibilities in terms of image analysis and quantification in Dermatology.

 

Over the last few years, the CPCAD has focused on developing image treatment tools capable of meeting Sponsors’ expectations in terms of quantification of observed cutaneous effects.

 

Thus, at present OCT images can be analysed automatically in order to quantify in an objective and reproducible manner different parameters such as epidermal thickness or indentation index.

Microrelief analysis based on the manipulation of 3D images is currently undergoing validation by the team concerned.

Likewise, images generated by CRM can be analysed semi-automatically to evaluate keratinocyte size.  Automatic quantification of epidermal thickness is under development
